Briefings before the season, field days up at the sites, open walks along the seafront and the patrol nights themselves. Most of it is free and none of it asks you to commit to anything afterwards.

Volunteer briefing, 2027 season
Two hours to cover the whole thing: why the birds come down, how to handle one, what your stretch of road looks like and who to call at two in the morning. Come even if you are only curious.

Burrow survey day
A full day on steep ground, checking traps and marking burrow entrances before the birds come back. Bring water, proper shoes and no fear of a slope.

Night sky walk and light audit
We walk a kilometre of seafront with a light meter and note every fixture pointing the wrong way. Families welcome. The findings go straight to the town hall.

Season opening patrol night
First night of the watch. Teams are paired, stretches are handed out, boxes and torches are collected. If you did the briefing, this is the night it becomes real.

Accounts, season figures, and the vote on next year’s priorities. Members can attend in person or send a proxy. Papers go out two weeks before.
