One programme picks the birds up off the road. One stops them landing there in the first place. One makes sure there is still somewhere for them to come back to. They only work together.
Rescue
Night rescue patrols
From January to April, volunteers walk the coast road after dark, pick up grounded fledglings and get them to the care centre before sunrise.

Prevention
Lights out
One badly aimed streetlight can ground a whole night of fledglings. We map the worst spots and work with towns to shield, dim or switch them off during the season.

Habitat
Safe nesting grounds
Rescue only works if there is somewhere to go back to. Up in the ravines we protect the burrows from rats and cats, and count what comes back each year.
